Song of the Day #14: Nobody’s Fault But My Own

Beck time. Finally. But this song wouldn’t be my prediction. There were other candidates, strong candidates, but they fell by the wayside. Why?

One word: sitar.

Sitar. Sitar. Sitar. Sitar. Sitar. Sitar.

Sitar on Lamar. Winding up Lamar from a pointless errand in search of inspiration that ended up, well, uninspiring. Thought I’d already heard the SOTD (do you want to know what it was–too bad–today I’m keeping secrets), but then Jeff McCord, sitting in for Jay, comes out with a little Beck. A little slow, depressing Beck to top off a fruitless search, a time suck when I could have been making something.

It’s playing now. Sometimes, I wonder about the sitar, why I love it so much. Which came first, my love of sitar or my love of all things Indian? I’m pretty sure that the sitar was my introduction to all things Indian, the sitar on “Within and Without You” and the eight-armed woman on the M & M ad from when I was very little.
