Obviously, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to “Song of the Day” and I think I’ve come to a few conclusions that I will share with you now:1. Every day does not necessarily have a Song of the Day.
2. If I’m stressing out possibly missing SOTD because I’m listening to the wrong station or too busy for music, I’ve lost it altogether. SOTD is not something I have to go searching for–it comes to me. It is my version of a blessing.
3. Every SOTD does not have to have massive meaning.
4. The observation issues are in fact very true: by observing/writing about the SOTD, I’ve changed both my awareness and my involvement. I have disturbed the universe. I have infused the SOTD with a little too much Lize and not enough SOTD.
5. When a song is SOTD, it’s completely obvious. And early SOTD’s can be dislodged by a later song because that’s what happens. It’s not me–it’s the song and the day combined.
OK, I’ll deal with the time-space continuum issues of posting way after the song was SOTD another time. I’ve got too many songs to catch up on to theorize about catching up on SOTD.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving (I’m that far behind), I was driving the girls to lunch in Santa Monica. I wanted to go to Izzy’s and couldn’t find it (thought it was 12th and Wilshire, but it’s 15th). I kept circling around the big Catholic high school in Santa Monica; it was letting out early for Thanksgiving. The girls were hungry and I was getting a little tired of driving around looking for a place that might have been transformed into a Starbucks.
Of course, the radio was on. I’d had to get it off George-Ann’s constant stream of talk radio. (I cannot understand how she listens to it.) Stevie Wonder. Blood pressure drops. “La la la, la la la, la la la la la la.” You know it.
Then I didn’t want to find Izzy’s, so I could drive around some more and listen to the end of the song.

Hey, I have a question to ask–SOTD is what it is: a mystical communication. So, when I get my Christmas cd of the year–what does that mean?!
I love this blog. Keep it up.
