Song of the Day #26: Love Having You Around

Stevie Wonder – Love Having You Around
Here’s where some of the major questions addressed in SOTD #23 got to me. Last Sunday, I put on “Love Having You Around” because I had to do the laundry. I then decided that it was SOTD. Now, looking back at it, I think it might be more of a STGMTTU–Song that Got Me Through the Unpacking.Last Sunday is when I started panicking about there having to be a SOTD evey day because there was always a day, so there should always be a song. But when I chose this song as SOTD, I knew I was up to no good. This was a self-created blessing. Or rather, this song is such a blessing that it even feels like one is happening when I choose to play it. Perhaps the song is more of a miracle than a blessing. A trombone miracle–the best kind.

Then I started in on the whole, “Why do I have to attach spiritual significance to everything and anything that has meaning to me?” track. As the week progressed, I seem to have reached some conclusions (temporary, no doubt) about these matters. I’m now a week behind. I kept notes this week. I had some rather impressive experiences while writing the dreaded catch-up posts. And I contacted John Aielli this week, in relation to both the infamous tree and the music he plays, so there’s a SOTD related achievement.

I’ll catch up on this week next week, in what has become the pre-taped call-in show of blogs. Even though I feel pretty feeble putting “Love Having You Around” for last Sunday’s SOTD, I’m beginning to think that I’m actually getting somewhere. Maybe it really was the SOTD since it got me thinking as well as unpacking.

If we all stopped attaching spiritual significance to things,

there would be no more amazing things to see, do, think about, etc.
I think of your SOTD as co-creating. Sometimes you are more involved sometimes not, but don’t you think the Co-Creator “Loves Having You Around” to help?
