Unfortunately, my dad didn't have that cultural point of reference so the comparison was lost on him. Now that I think about it, he's a blue-collar guy in Oklahoma and insisted in 2004 that he didn't "know anyone who's voting for Bush," so he probably lacks cultural reference points altogether.
